Jim Freed - WSU Special Forest Products Agent

James (Jim) R Freed has been an extension professor of natural resources since 1974.  He worked for 4 years for the Ohio State University as a 4-H, Natural Resources, Community Development and Agriculture agent.  Jim Came to WSU in November 1977 to be the county agent in Mason county with a program focus of 4-H, Agriculture, CRD and Natural resources.  Jim was also the county chair of Mason, Grays Harbor and Thurston Counties. Jim now serves at the Special Forest Products agent for WSU.  Major programs include educating the over 150,000 forest land owners in Washington State on sustainable management of native plants for commercial and personal use.  He also conducts programs that enable natural resource land managers to identify and protect cultural and historical sites on their properties. He is located at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources in Olympia Washington.  Jim serve over 18 years in the military where his units were responsible for disaster response efforts in Washington State.  Jim has been working with the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) since 2001.
