Blogs
Blog is a word formed from weB + LOG. It is a Web page that is arranged in reverse chronological order—the most recent postings are at the top of the page. An overview of blogs can be seen at Common Craft: Blogs in Plain English (video).
There are many free blogging services (and some paid ones) that provide easy-to-use editors and even provide Web space. Nearly all blogs generate RSS feeds. There are many RSS-to-Email services (e.g. http://www.feedmyinbox.com/ ) if you prefer to receive updates via email. Blogs are a cornerstone of social networking; they are integrated into many other social networking softwares. A key feature is the “comment” capability that facilitates two-way communication. Group (e.g. program area or county) blogs are easily created. Blogs are often given priority in search engine rankings because of their timeliness and interconnection with other sites.
