Core Competencies

What are Core Competencies?

Core Competencies are basic sets of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors required to be an exemplary Extension professional. They are the foundation for helping people learn and change; for working collaboratively with diverse people in community settings; for marketing and communicating effectively about our work; for measuring the impacts of our programs; and for employing technology to enhance everything we do. Core Competencies are those basic attributes needed by all educators, which, when combined with technical knowledge and skills, allow staff to be effective in addressing educational issues.
