Washington State Impacts

Reporting the Impact of your Work

Impact statements are brief reports written in lay language that explain the economic, environmental or social impact of your work. They raise the visibility of your accomplishments and illustrate your accountability to taxpayers, elected officials at every level, external sources of funding and many other interested people, including reporters looking for research.

Our impact statements are posted on the "Washington State Impacts" Web site. The site was launched in 2002 to serve as a resource for lawmakers at every level in Washington state.

Historically, a member of the Information Department has been responsible for writing and submitting these reports. Recently faculty have expressed interest in writing them as well and this Web interface will enable you to draft a submission the Information Department. Dennis Brown will edit each, clear changes with you, and post to the Web site. The following form has been created to help you craft and submit your statement. If you have further questions, please contact Dennis Brown at 509-335-2930.

So, how do you submit your Impact Statement?
Please enter your Impact Statement into the form below, taking the tips into account. We ask that you follow this format so that we can submit to USDA Science & Education Impact Web and to make our state site geographically searchable. You might want to first see other Impact Statements that have already been posted in the the "Washington State Impacts" Web site.
