Meet Our New Colleagues

Dale Whaley

As of May 2007, Dale Whaley is assisting Douglas and Chelan County residents with their agriculture and integrated weed management questions. The new Extension Educator, with expertise in entomology, forestry, noxious weed control, and invasive species, is based in Waterville. In June the Educational Marketing Group conducting public relations for WSU Extension selected Dale as a representative of “leading research for innovative change” due to his work with bioagents.

For the past five years Dale worked for Ferry County Extension in Wenatchee on the Quad County Bioagent project, which involved collaboration with the Forest Service, Colville Confederated Tribes, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and private landowners to fight noxious weeds in the eastern part of the state. He came well-prepared for this work after earning an MS in entomology with an emphasis in biological control of exotic weeds and a BS in integrated pest management.

Not surprisingly, Dale’s hobbies include collecting insects, fishing, camping, and reading.
