Olivia Forte-Gardner
Olivia Forte-Gardner joined Island County Extension in Coupeville as their Agricultural Sustainability and Land Stewardship Educator in February 2007. As her title indicates, she conducts marketing, outreach, and classes for small farms and nurseries. Olivia earned both her MS and BS in natural resource science from WSU. She focused her latest degree on technology transfer and innovation theory, which she is able to apply in her current position. Olivia gained research experience in the WSU Department of Crop and Soil Sciences from 1998–2004.
As a sign Olivia has found her true calling, she volunteers in community activities that try to make small family farms financially healthy and their practices environmentally sustainable. She also enjoys earth sciences, world history and cultures, jewelry art, and music. Complementary hobbies include cooking and eating, followed by aerobics, bicycling, and hiking.
