Lynne Carpenter-Boggs
Lynne Carpenter-Boggs stepped into her role with enthusiasm as the first Biologically-Intensive Agriculture and Organic Farming (BIOAg) Coordinator for the WSU Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources (CSANR) in May 2006, direct from her last position as Instructor and Research Associate of our Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. She now works to meet the growing demand for new research and outreach from both farmers and consumers to build sustainable agriculture, communities, and ecosystems throughout Washington State.
Lynne’s desire to combine traditional knowledge of farming systems with innovations in soil and compost microbiology to foster vibrant and sustainable agriculture stems from growing up on farms and in rural communities of Oregon and Idaho. Her formal education includes a BS in Biophysical Environmental Studies from Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin, an MS in Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry from Iowa State University, and a PhD in Soil Science here at WSU in 1997. To relax and enrich her professional life, Lynne does yoga and anthroposophy, and “nearly anything to get outdoors,” including turkey hunting, mushroom hunting, hiking, fishing, and berry harvest.
