Sharon J Collman
Sharon Collman returned to WSU after more than a decade and a half in December 2005 as a Snohomish County Extension Educator. She leads the horticulture education program, including assistance to Master Gardeners and garden writers, as well as production, marketing, and pest management to the nursery and landscape industries in Snohomish and Skagit Counties. She also provides expertise in plant problem diagnosis, beneficial insects, entomology networking, and backyard biodiversity.
Sharon earned PhD and MS degrees in Horticulture from the University of Washington in 2000 and 1972, respectively, and a BS in Botany from Central Washington University in 1968. As a WSU Extension faculty member in King and Snohomish Counties from 1974 to 1989, Sharon was directly involved in developing the original Master Gardener and Integrated Pest Management educational programs. She was the University of Idaho Extension liaison to EPA in Seattle from 2003 to 2005.
Integrating many of her intellectual and extracurricular interests, Sharon classifies gardening, entomology, backyard biodiversity, and thinking as “hobbies.” She also enjoys photography and “mom-care."
