Meet Our New Colleagues

Jennifer Andreas

Jennifer Andreas joined WSU King County Extension in March 2005, providing integrated weed management strategies and education (with a focus on biological control)to western Washington land managers. She has worked in biocontrol since 1998 in Canada, Switzerland, and the western United States, including three years as a Research Assistant at the University of Idaho, where she earned an M.S. in Entomology. Jennifer also has a B.S. in Agriculture Studies from the University of Lethbridge and a horticulture diploma specializing in Landscape Design from Olds College, both in Alberta, Canada.

She recently drew attention to WSU Extension’s biocontrol program of knapweed with weevils after the Seattle Times (August 17, 2006) reported on the “Bug Lady’s war on weeds… Unabashedly enthusiastic about bugs,” Jennifer works with weed-control agencies in 19 counties, and collected 43,000 insects in 2005 alone.
