Weed Control Boards (Engrossed Substitute
House Bill No. 91)
The Washington legislature in 1969 passed a Weed Control Bill that created a
state noxious weed control board and permitted the formation of county noxious
weed control boards.
The legislation lists the Director of Extension as a nonvoting
member of the state weed control board.
In the formation of county weed control boards,
the legislation states that "there
shall be one nonvoting member who shall be the chief county Extension agent
or a county Extension agent appointed by the chief county Extension
agent."
In actuality, Extension personnel involvement in weed control
boards is as professional and specialized consultants with useful
knowledge about weeds and weed control.
As a nonvoting member, they play no supervisory role, but serve primarily as
an advisory person. |
