Karl
Hobson Memorial Fund for Staff/Faculty/Volunteers
The
Washington State University Foundation, in collaboration with
the Karl Hobson family, have established
the Karl Hobson Memorial Fund for the support of
training opportunities for WSU Extension faculty, staff
and volunteers. This fund is dedicated to the development of
both volunteers and professional staff and awards are made to
Extension faculty, staff and volunteers who show
promise for enhanced performance following the selected training.
No portion of the funds may be used for support of, promotion
of, or work associated with the beer and wine industry. Scholarships
of up to $500 will be awarded each year, the number dependent
on applications received and the amount of expendable income
available.
Scholarships are to be based on:
- Value
of intended training to WSU Extension.
- Value of intended training to
individuals in their specific assignment.
Eligibility
CE staff and volunteers must meet the following requirements to be eligibl
for scholarships:
- Have
a major Extension assignment in Washington State.
- Have completed at least one
year of Extension work.
- Have developed and submitted
a plan to the memorial fund selection committee formally requesting
funds, including the amount requested, estimated cost and purpose
of the training, and the professional/program development expected
as a result of attending this training.
Selection Committee
A selection committee of three people for the identification of awardee(s)
will be designated by the Associate Dean for Extension. It should
include previous awardees. The selection process will be initiated at a spring
administrative team meeting.
Scholarship Award
The award will be made to the awardee(s) upon their enrollment
in the selected training. The scholarship must be used within
a twelve month period following
the announcement. |
