NEW WSU PROVOST BEGINS AUGUST 1
Dr. Steven L. Hoch (pronounced ‘hawk’), 57, will begin his new duties August 1 http://www.wsu.edu/spotlight/hoch/index.html. He is the current dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky and has been selected as Washington State University's new provost and executive vice president.
ECES EDITORIAL AND DESIGN STAFF IN NEW LOCATION
The Extension Communications and Educational Support (ECES) editorial and design staff, along with our production coordinator, have relocated from their offices in Hulbert Hall and are now located in the Extension Bulletins offices in the Cooper Publications building, Pullman campus. The individuals who have relocated are: Production Coordinator Lagene Taylor, Designer and Extension Brand Manager Gerald Steffen, Designer Ianna Woltering, and editors Therese Harris and Dora Rollins.
You enter via the main entrance into Cooper pubs office #2 and the staff are now located in the #2 and #4 office suites in that building. All their phone numbers remain the same. The campus zip for sending materials to our editorial or design staff is 5912.
GALAXY III UPDATE
Only ten (10) more days to register at the early bird rate for the Galaxy III conference in Indianapolis. After that date, the registration fee is going up by $100. Be sure to be a wise consumer by registering early. The Galaxy III conference will be held in Indianapolis, September 15 through the 19th of this year. Registration can be found at www.ces.purdue.edu/galaxy. Come join your extension co-workers in an educational event that only happens every five years.
The ESP Pre-Conference, Leading Change for a Healthy Organization, is scheduled for Monday, September 15, from 9:00 - 3:30 pm in Indianapolis. This conference is designed for Extension educators across all disciplines, including county and regional directors, human resource and professional development personnel and administrators. The keynote speaker is Kathleen Lingle who leads Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), a national center of work-life expertise that defines and recognizes innovation, best practices and provides global thought leadership. AWLP advances work-life effectiveness as a high-performance business strategy that integrates work, family and community. Cost of this outstanding workshop will be $100 per participant and will include lunch and beverage in addition to the workshop itself. PRE-CONFERENCE REGISTRATION POSTED AT http://espnational.org. 30 MINUTE SESSIONS
This month we are offering "30 Minute Sessions" on a several topics including new Avatar Express sessions in Second Life, FAQ Tool, and the Ask eXtension widget. Give us 30 minutes and we'll teach you something useful! These sessions will be held at our Web Conferencing Center at http://connect.extension.iastate.edu/learn and your telephone. Plan to join the session 5 minutes before the starting time. Each session will be held at 11:00 PT unless otherwise noted.
* June 17 at 11:00 PT, a "30 Minute Session" for Ask Widget Early Adopters. This will be an "open" session for counties that have installed the Ask eXtension widget on their county sites. The session will discuss several things to help agents in using the system more efficiently, and will be a time to for you to ask get answers to all your questions. (open to all counties with an installed Ask eXtension widget on their county sites.)(for all Extension)

In-MoodleMeet: June 16. Topic: Moodle Version 1.9. During the summer (June-Aug) will be held the third Monday of the month from 10 – 11:30 PT, in the chat of the Moodle 101 course, which you can enter as a guest. Second Life Meet-ups: The 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month the CES Second Life educators meet in-world to learn new skills and visit interesting educational builds. The learning part of the meet-ups are led by fellow participants, and are designed to be lightweight and appropriate for all skill levels.

Avatar Express is held on alternating Mondays from 9:00 – 10:00 AM PT. This is basic orientation for very new newbies. Learn how to walk, talk, teleport, change clothes, manage inventory, and find things to do. Content varies, come as often as you like. Monday Mashups are held on the last Monday of the month at the Virtual State Fairgrounds. Part social and part educational, the SL public is invited to come and mingle with Cooperative Extension folks. 2. You will be presented with a login screen that has an "Enter as Guest" option.
3. Enter your first name, your last name, and your institution/university, then click the "Enter Room" button to join the conference.
4. To hear the audio of the workshop and participate in the Q&A portion of the workshop we will be using a built-in teleconferencing capability of Adobe's Connect Pro conferencing software. Once you log into the meeting you will be presented with the option to enter your call-back number, your phone will automatically be called. After entering your number you will be automatically called and joined into the audio portion of the Web conference on your phone.
