NEW CALF SCIENCE PRODUCER COURSE
"Improving ag animal health and well being today for our safety and well being tomorrow."  This is the first of many online courses we will offer through the Veterinary Medicine Extension unit.  The Calf Science courses are intended for producers, students of animal science and veterinary medicine, and veterinarians. These courses highlight the results of our research and highlight the relevance of that research to calf rearing.  The Producer Course is finished!!

ECES VIDEO WINS AWARD
A video titled "The Undercutter Method for Winter Wheat" has just been honored with an "Award of Excellence" by the American Society of Agronomy. The video was produced by Extension Conservation Tillage Specialist Hans Kok, in cooperation with Darrell Kilgore, Video/Satellite Communication Specialist, in the Extension Communications and Educational Support Unit.

This 16-minute DVD describes the Undercutter method, a cost and time-saving way of farming in the Pacific North-west summer fallow area.
It contains research and farmer interviews explaining the advantages of the system

The award to WSU Extension Communications and Educational Support (ECES) was presented "in recognition of the development of outstanding agronomic educational material in the category of Audio-Visuals."

PERSONNEL
Chris Hilgert joined the WSU Spokane County Extension team on October 1st as the Urban Horticulturist.  Chris served as an Extension Horticulture Educator for University of Illinois from 2003 until he joined WSU Extension.  He earned his BS and MS from Oregon State University. He has experience in delivering a variety of education programs related to urban, environmental, and commercial horticulture, and has trained and worked with Master Gardener volunteers.

Bridget Rohner, Interim Lincoln County Director, will become the permanent Lincoln County Director effective January 1, 2009.  Bridget will focus on multi-county educational programming in the area of human development.  Bridget has served as Interim County Director for the past

4 years, and has developed programs for youth and families in the Lincoln-Adams County areas. She earned her BA from WSU and her Masters from EWU.

SCHEDULE
Linda will be in Pullman on Monday and Friday. She will be in Ellensburg on Tuesday meeting with the Promotion and Tenure Advisory Committee.
Wednesday she will be in Newport meeting with the Food $ense CEOs.  She will be at WSU Spokane at the Area Health Education Center (AHEC). 

John will be in Pullman all week.
