Topics in today's issue of Extension Update:
New OGRD Proposal Deadline
OGRD, the Office of Grants, Research and Development at WSU, has a new proposal deadline of five working days prior to the granting agencies deadline. Proposals submitted fewer than five working days will not be guaranteed to meet the agencies deadline. The policy can be found at BPPM 40.02.2 http://www.wsu.edu/%7Eforms/PDF/BPPM/40-02.pdf To comply with this new policy, WSU Extension is requesting the full proposal package be submitted to the Extension Grants Team ten working days prior to the agency deadline to allow sufficient time to meet OGRD's deadline.
Please keep this new time frame in mind as you pursue grant funding opportunities. If you have questions about the new policy or the grants process please contact any member of the Extension Grants Team: Esther Tate etate@wsu.edu 509/335-6885, Joan Root rootj@wsu.edu 509/335-2885 or Jennifer Jansen jjansen@wsu.edu 509/335-2867.
Washington State University Master Gardener Volunteer Week
Governor Christine O. Gregoire has proclaimed the week of May 14 - 20, 2007 as Washington State University Master Gardener Volunteer Week. This proclamation was signed by the Governor on April 23, 2007 to celebrate the Washington State University Master Gardener volunteer program’s 34 years of service. This model of volunteer service has been emulated in all fifty states and numerous foreign countries. There are over 3,500 WSU Master Gardener volunteers who serve more than 330,000 Washington residents each year. We salute these dedicated volunteer educators for their love of gardening used to address critical issues throughout the state. The Master Gardener program sets a remarkable example of voluntary community service by returning to Washington residents over 10 times the funds expended on the program’s maintenance. Thank you for all of your dedicated service!
