CSREES Announces New Technologies for Ag Extension Grant
http://www.csrees.usda.gov/funding/rfas/new_technologies.html.  The purpose of the New Technologies for Ag Extension Program (NTAE) is to increase the capacity of each State to contribute expertise and content to the development of eXtension, a national web-based information and education delivery system that provides direct access to science-based educational resources from land-grant and other partner institutions about subjects of high importance to the general public.  This initiative will dramatically change how the CES does business with its customers.  In FY 2007, CSREES plans to support partial deployment of eXtension and enable a technology-conscious nation to make use of the valuable information and education that the CES has to offer.  CSREES anticipates the amount available for support of this program in FY 2007 will be approximately $1,425,000.  Application deadline is April 16, 2007

Small Farm Expo 2007 presented by WSU King County Extension
WSU King County Extension presents Small Farm Expo 2007 “Show Me How!” will be Saturday, March 24th, 9:30-3:30 pm at the Northwest Expo Center (formerly King County Fairgrounds) Enumclaw, WA.

Join us on March 24th, for the 6th annual Small Farm Expo at the Northwest Expo Center in Enumclaw for how- to answers to these questions and more!
The Small Farm Expo is a fun, informative and free event for the whole family.
This is the only local event that offers concurrent sessions, each with specialized workshops, to help communicate hands-on, useful information for small acreage landowners, farmers and all interested in rural living skills.

There will be six tracks this year, each with four workshops taught by local experts:

  • Wild about Wool and Focused on Fiber!
  • Renewing Energy on Small Farms
  • Elements of Rural Living

New this year!

  • Kid’s Activities! Kids, come along to the Expo to dissect a seed, plant a take-home garden, felt wool into a dog toy, learn about composting with worms and about the lifecycle of trees, play with polymers, and participate in coloring activities.
  • Lunch time horse parade!
  • Evening Barn Dance, hosted by the City of Enumclaw, following the Small Farm Expo
