eXtension CALL FOR ENGAGEMENT: COMMUNITIES
OF PRACTICE
eXtension
has issued its call for creation of Communities of Practice (CoPs)
to develop educational materials to be delivered via the internet.
The call is located on the eXtension
intranet site.
Scroll down the Web site and look on the right side of the Web page
for the link to the call. The actual submission form will be posted
June 1, but information on the grant proposal is available now. I
strongly suggest that you contact Craig Wood or Carla Craycraft directly
if you want to submit a proposal. They can provide further information
on what they’re looking for in an award winning proposal. Their
contact information is listed on the bottom of the call. Pre-proposals
are due July 8, 2005.
CHANGES IN APPOINTMENT AT USDA
USDA Secretary Mike Johanns accepted
the resignation of Dr. Joseph J. Jen, USDA's Under Secretary Research,
Education, and Economics
(REE). See
the USDA press release.
Dr. Rodney Brown, Deputy Under Secretary REE, USDA has also announced
plans to leave the agency. He has accepted the position of Dean of
the College of Biology and Agriculture at Brigham Young University,
UT.
FEDERAL REGISTER COMMENT PERIOD FOR EFNEP
Department of Agriculture,
Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, Notice
of Intent to Revise a Currently Approved
Information Collection. 5-11-05; pps. 24765-24766. Closing date is
July 11, 2005. Contact is Jason Hitchcock at 202/720-0857.
CSREES intends to request approval for the revision of the current
Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) information
collection process. Comments are requested on:
“Whether the proposed collection of information is necessary
for the proper performance of the functions of the Agency, including
whether the information will have practical utility; and the accuracy
of the Agencies estimate of the burden of the proposed collection
of payment; ways to enhance the quality, utility and clarity of the
information to be collected; and ways to minimize the burden of the
collection of information on those who are to respond, including
through the use of appropriate automated, electronic, mechanical,
or other technological collection techniques or other forms of information
technology.”
SCHEDULE
Next week Linda is in Pullman on Tuesday. She will be in
western Washington the remainder of the week, attending the ground
breaking
on June 1 at Mt Vernon R&E Center and attending meetings in Whatcom
County and at the NW Indian College. Next week Ed is on annual leave.
