WRITING PRIVATE GRANT PROPOSALS - AN OVERVIEW
As everyone knows,
it no longer suffices for university professionals to sit quietly
by and wait for the state allocation of money. In
order to provide high-quality programs, services and personnel,
Extension faculty and staff are increasingly venturing into the
fundraising arena, most often by writing grant proposals.
Grants from family and corporate foundations can
be a strong supplemental source of revenue and their proposal
process is generally less
cumbersome than what is required by state and federal agencies.
This does not, however, lessen our obligation to pursue these grants
with excellence and diligence; if anything, our "story" has
to be told with even greater passion and flair to set it apart
from the competition.
This workshop will provide an overview of grantseeking and the
steps required to submit a grant proposal, with the goal of demystifying
the process and encouraging you to become more involved in fundraising.
NOTE: There will be two writing sessions as part of this workshop
so if you are considering writing a proposal for a real-life project,
please bring that idea with you.
The
workshop is scheduled for Friday, July 9, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. in
the New Holland Library Administrative Office. To enroll or
if you have questions, please contact Megan K.

at 509-335-8169.
JUNE EXTENSION DIGITAL PHOTO CONTEST WINNER
The winner of the
June Extension Digital Photo Contest is Don Meehan, Island County
Extension educator. His winning photo shows
a 1947 Dodge truck and private plane used to transport Don and
Kelly Williams around Island County in their role as Extension
leaders. Kelly coordinates the Island County Challenge Program.
While another entry more closely fit the theme, our judge was impressed
with the eye-catching color and composition of Don's entry. Take
a look at this winning image on the Extension
Faculty and Staff page. Thanks to everyone who took the
time to enter. Consider entering images this month. If you had
trouble entering in June, the e-mail submission link has been corrected.
The theme for July is summer recreation. You can read the rules
at http://ext.wsu.edu/PhotoContest.html
