NEW “PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT” CALENDAR
The Extension Professional Development committee has initiated a new Professional Development calendar item on the Extension Calendar of Events Web site as a new pull-down menu choice. We ask that all Extension faculty and staff who are offering training that they want publicized to their colleagues or who know of training offered by others that they feel should be publicized within Extension please add these items to the new Professional Development calendar.

In addition, Extension administration has decided to eliminate a number of existing pull down calendar listings that have no items listed for several months and appear to not be in use. If you would like to see any of these calendar listings restored, please contact Linda Fox with your request and rationale.

WORKSHOP ACCOUNTS FOR EXTENSION EDUCATORS – FISCAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT
Wednesday, May 19th 9:00 – 11:00 am is the first training, titled “Workshop Accounts for Extension Educators – Fiscal and Administrative Management.” The presenters will be Mary Hoffman and Detlef Decker. Mary will describe the specifics of accounts intended for workshop fees. We will define the difference between workshops and large scale conferences and therefore, how the workshop accounts differ from conferences. She will be joined by Detlef Decker, Extension Meeting Management + Program Support. He will share important tips for planning a successful workshop. Detlef, drawing from his years of experience in conference administration, will also highlight some common financial pitfalls and items that may catch an auditor’s eye.

The handouts for the training, including the PowerPoint slides, must be downloaded:

  • Workshop Accounts - Administrative Guidelines
  • Workshop Accounts - Roles and Responsibilities
  • Workshop Accounts - Request Form
  • Workshop Accounts - Agreement Certification Form
  • Workshop Accounts - Budget Close Out Form
  • Power Point Presentation for Workshop Account Training

The program can also be viewed via WECN at select locations and videostream from your computer. For the scheduled WECN locations and information on how to view the program using either of these options, look under Future Video Events on the Video Unit Web site.

NATIONAL DIVERSITY AWARD NOMINATIONS SOUGHT

Then now is the time to nominate an individual, team, or Extension organization for the National Extension Diversity Award. This annual award is sponsored by the Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Services (CSREES), Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP), ECOP Personnel Subcommittee and the Extension Diversity Task Force. The deadline for submitting nominations is July 31, 2004. Nominations must be submitted to the award selection chair at the Extension Diversity Web site.
