CEEPS IMPROVES SERVICE AND CHANGES NAME
During a recent Extension Administrative Team meeting, a new name was approved for the Cooperative Extension Event and Program Support or CEEPS unit of the CAHE Information Department. As of July 1, 2003, the unit is to be called Extension Meeting Management and Program Support or EMMPS (em2 + ps). The new unit name also has a new graphic identity and logo. Please visit the new EMMPS (em2 + ps) Web site and adjust the CEEPS link from your Web site accordingly.

"This change comes from a position of strength. Being part of the Information Department provides you a one-stop-shop to create a total event, from creativity to event management," said Detlef Decker, the new Administrative Manager of the EMMPS unit. "The essence of who we are is now embodied in our name, a total meeting management and program production company."

Extension Meeting Management and Program Support (em2 + ps) is a single-source solution providing professional turnkey conference, trade show, expo and program management, and support services to WSU Extension faculty, administrative professionals, and staff.

UPDATE ON WSU EXTENSION
Ample input has been provided by many of you and from many of our partners regarding the proposal to drop "Cooperative" from Cooperative Extension (CE), thus becoming WSU Extension. This name has been endorsed widely. As we partner with other colleges and faculty and administrators throughout WSU, it is important to have the opportunity to engage in the dialogue more broadly around the name WSU Extension. Therefore, we will delay the implementation of WSU Extension until we've presented it to the faculty Senate. The Senate is adjourned for summer break and is schedule to reconvene in September. We hope to implement WSU Extension, with Senate approval, by early fall. Sorry for any inconvenience this delay may cause you.

RESOURCES FROM MIDDLE MANAGERS CONFERENCE
Fifteen faculty representing WSU attended the Extension Middle Managers Conference this week in Newport, Oregon, called "Creative Engagement: Proposals for a Bright Future." Kudos to WSU faculty Kay Haaland, Phil Wandschneider, and Emmett Fiske who presented the workshop and resources on public issues education (www.publicissueseducation.net) and the Canons of Practice for public policy research and education.

Featured speaker from California State University Monterey Bay, Amy Driscoll shared her research and insight on the scholarship of engagement. The Clearinghouse for the Scholarship of Engagement, funded by W. K. Kellogg Foundation, works with faculty and administrators on documenting the scholarship of engagement (www.scholarshipofengagement.org). You can receive a free copy of the book "Making Outreach Visible" (1999) by simply contacting Amy Driscoll and a copy will be mailed to you.

Blair Wolfley will chair the planning committee for the 2004 Middle Managers Conference, tentatively scheduled for the third week of July in San Diego.

If you want more information about the Middle Managers conference contact any of this year's attendees: Randy Baldree, David Bragg, Linda Fox, Gary Fredricks, Jim Kropf, Elvin Kulp, Wayne Madson, Louise Parker, Christy Price, Doug Stienbarger, Cora Vowell, and Blair Wolfley.

WSU W.E.T. PROGRAM FEATURED ON USDA WEB SITE
The USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) National Water Quality Program web site has posted the pdf version of the "Colville Reservation Gets W.E.T." article, which appeared in the Indian Ag Link quarterly newsletter. You can find it by going to the Success Story page. It is listed under Pollution Prevention and Assessment. Congratulations to Dan Fagerlie and his entire W.E.T. project staff.

SCHEDULE
Next week Mike will be attending the WSU Master Gardener Founder's Day Celebration and he will travel to New Jersey to attend the meeting of ECOP (Extension Committee on Organization and Policy). Mike will be in Pullman Thursday and Friday. Next week Linda will be on annual leave.
