HOME
ECONOMICS CENTENNIAL "A COOK'S TOUR" OF ITALY
June 20-30, twenty-two WSU home economics alumni and family
members will enjoy an exclusive 10-day Italian food and wine experience,
sponsored by Washington State University. Val Hillers, Extension
Food Safety Specialist and member of the Home Economics Centennial
Celebration Planning Committee, will be the official CAHE representative.
A percentage of the gross proceeds of the tour will directly benefit
the CAHE Home Economics Scholarship Fund. The special Centennial
Celebration tour includes 3 nights at La Foresteria Serego Alighieri,
near Verona (Veneto Region), 3 nights at the Villa Cennina in the
Tuscan Hills near Siena, and then 3 nights at the Grand Hotel in
the ancient fishing village of Portovenera. They will enjoy hands-on
cooking with a master chef in each region, visits to historical
and cultural high-points, and tours of cheese, pasta, prosciutto,
and wine producers, all with friends from WSU! If this sounds inviting
and you are sorry you missed the Centennial opportunity, a "virtual"
tour will be presented by Jan Hiller and Val Hillers during the
Home Economics Centennial Celebration in Pullman, September 25-26,
2003.

CSREES
REVIEW OF WSU EXTENSION ANNUAL REPORT
We received the review by Cooperative State Research, Education
and Extension Service (CSREES) of our 2002 Annual Report of Accomplishments.
We were complimented for providing a substantive and nicely structured
annual report, with the most significant strength is the inclusion
of an impact statement with each of the Key Themes. You can access
our Annual Report of
Accomplishments. From the reviewers comments, we need to provide
more detail on, and identity of youth, underserved, or under-represented
audiences in the stakeholder input process. Keep this in mind next
year with your ACIS report. Otherwise, this appears to me to have
met the federal partners expectations and received a favorable review.
