Faculty member Tonie Fitzgerald in a discussion of landscaping methods
that emphasize low maintenance, water conservation and wildlife

ENHANCING
PROGRAM PERFORMANCE WITH LOGIC MODELS WEB COURSE
University of Wisconsin-Cooperative Extension, in collaboration
with state and federal partners, has just launched a web-based learning
resource on logic models. This resource has been under development
for two years so we are pleased to announce its availability. The
Web address is http://www1.uwex.edu/ces/lmcourse.
The
web site houses two modules: 1) Logic Model Basics that includes
seven sections of self-instructional learning with text, audios,
activities and supplemental materials and 2) the Community Nutrition
Education (CNE) Logic Model that describes the development of a
national logic model and its use in regional and national nutrition
education reporting. For clarification of the latter, see the FSNEP
national Web site.
NATIONAL
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PRACTITIONER APPRENTICESHIP (YDPA) PROGRAM
Washington State 4-H has the unique opportunity to be involved
in the National Youth Development Practitioner Apprenticeship (YDPA)
Program. YDPA is an education and training program for professionals
who work with youth. Through a structured apprenticeship program,
which includes Related Instruction and On-the-Job Training, youth
practitioners develop the skills they need to effectively serve
youth in their communities. Only five states nationally have been
selected to pilot this new professional development model for 4-H
Youth Development sponsored by the Department of Labor. Pat BoyEs,
Louise Parker, Linda Fox and Mike Tate are all very supportive of
our participation in this program.
Some
of you will have the special privilege of serving as Apprentices
or Master Practitioners for our state. We am hoping to recruit a
maximum of two apprentices and two master practitioners. Please
see the attached job descriptions for apprentices and master practitioners
to learn about the responsibilities and benefits of participating.
Also attached are the applications for both positions. Applications
are due via email to Mary Deen NO LATER than June 2, 2003. The 4-H
Professional Development Action Team will review the applications
and select participants by July 1 or sooner.
This
is an exciting opportunity for our staff to grow in their profession.
Consider applying or being supportive of colleagues you think would
benefit from participating in the program. Please contact me with
questions at mdeen@wsu.edu or
509-662-4730.
