WSU
HOME ECONOMICS CENTENNIAL 1903-2003
In 1903, the study of Home Economics was started at WSU. "A
century of scholarship frames the future" is the theme for
the celebration of the 100th anniversary for home economics. There
are several events planned for the anniversary, including the spring
Diamond and Gold Grads alumni event and a fall gathering of WSU
home economics alumni and friends (October 9-11, 2003). Options
available for alumni family and friends will also include a Cook's
Tour of Italy (June 19-29, 2003), and a fashion tour. For additional
information about the centennial anniversary celebrations, contact
Winifred Tate.
Members
of the Centennial planning committee are: Alberta Hill, Margery
Rounds Muir, Lil Freese, Gladys Jennings, Ginger Scobie, and Tanja
Huffman. Faculty/administrators assisting in the planning are Joye
Dillman, Val Hillers, Jan Hiller, Kyong-sook Cho, Winifred Tate,
Linda Arthur, and Linda Fox.
For
you history buffs, when the State College of Washington opened its
doors in January 1892, a first announcement listed four-year programs
in Agriculture, Mechanic Arts, and Domestic Economy, and a two-year
program in Pharmacy. By 1903, President Enoch A. Bryan was able
to get financial support for a Domestic Economy Department, the
first of the home economics departments at WSU over the hundred
year history.
POLICY
ON SALES OF GOODS AND SERVICES:
WSU EXECUTIVE POLICY MANUAL
The Board of Regents approved this policy on November 20, 1987.
University executive administrators have now decided to include
this policy in the Executive Policy Manual.
"Policy
on Sales of Goods and Services EP17"
It
is often necessary for the University and its affiliated units to
provide goods and services for fees which enhance, promote, or support
its instruction, research, and public service functions. This policy
has been developed to define the legitimate purposes under which
sales of goods and services for fees may be approved.
