A DIALOGUE WITH PRESIDENT RAWLINS SET OCTOBER 23
All members of the University community are welcome to participate in a Dialogue with WSU President V. Lane Rawlins, set to start at noon October 23 in the Compton Union Building, Room 127. Hear firsthand from President Rawlins about important issues for WSU. He welcomes your questions and comments. The Dialogue will also be available via videostreaming. You may submit questions in advance to rawlins@wsu.edu.

CHILDHOOD OBESITY: INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE CALL
"Reversing Childhood Obesity Trends: Helping Children Achieve Healthy Weights"
When: October 10, 11:00am Pacific.

The Healthy People, Healthy Communities National Initiative is pleased to sponsor this interactive conference call opportunity for Extension professionals and their colleagues from partnering organizations. The presenters, Dr. Edith Thomas, National Program Leader, Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension System, and Ms. Joann Ikeda, University of California-Berkeley, will highlight some of the recent research and literature on childhood obesity and will discuss the different types of programs currently being offered by Extension and their partners and directions for future programming to address childhood obesity.

ALL EXTENSION CONFERENCE UPDATE
Over 400 have registered online <http://ext.wsu.edu/ce2002> for the October 14-16 All Extension Conference. Be sure to register and to check out the online schedule for pre-conference meetings of the extension associations. Additionally, Becky Priebe reminds those of you on federal "Schedule A" appointments to RSVP to her regarding your attendance at one of the two scheduled training sessions on Monday the 14 (11:00 am or 4:00 pm). This is an invitation only important update for federal appointment employees only. Be sure to RSVP if you are NOT attending conference this year and unable to attend either of the sessions.

PERSONNEL
Don Holbrook in CAHE Business and Finance begins a new job as Area Finance Administrative Officer in the Division of Student Affairs. We will miss Don but wish him well in his new position.

SCHEDULE
Next week Mike will be in Pullman Thursday and Friday. Earlier in the week he will be in the NW District for the Tour de l' Etat (Provost tour). Linda will be visiting county commissioners in the SE District on Monday and back in Pullman the remainder of the week.
