For the first installment on the Farm Bill, here is the status on the Initiative for Future Agriculture and Food Systems (IFAFS). The House bill amends section 401(b)(1) of the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 (7 U.S.C. 7621(b)(1)) to provide a total of $1,160,000,000 to be transferred from the Treasury in equal increments for each fiscal year beginning on October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2011 beginning on October 1, 2003 with $120,000,000; on October 1, 2004, $140,000,000; on October 1, 2005, $160,000,000; and on October 1, 2006, and each October 1 thereafter, $200,000,000.
