MAY 2 OPEN MEETING WITH PRESIDENT RAWLINS AND CLASSIFIED STAFF
The Washington Federation of State Employees is pleased to sponsor an Open Meeting with President Rawlins and the Classified Staff of WSU's campuses on May 2, noon to 1:30 p.m. Locations for the Open Meeting include FSHN T101 where the meeting will originate, and WHETS classrooms at WSU Spokane, WSU Tri-Cities, WSU Vancouver, and the WSU Learning Center at Colville.

In addition, the meeting will be transmitted live via the College of Agriculture and Home Economics WECN system to the Puyallup Research and Extension Center, the Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research Center, the WSU Learning Center at Mt. Vernon, the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center at Prosser and the Energy Extension office in Olympia. The meeting will also be available the next day via videostream from the online archive.

If you have any questions you wish to submit to President Rawlins before the meeting so that he can answer them at the session, please submit them to me. Barbara B. Petura, Assistant Vice President for University Relations, will compile all the questions and submit them all at once to the President's Office. If there is anyone who will need disability accommodations, please contact Barbara and she will work with the Disabilities Resource Center.

FIRST OF PROVOST'S STATEWIDE TOURS
Provost Robert Bates will be the guest of Cooperative Extension on a two day bus tour through the South East Extension District on June 24 and 25. The itinerary is still under construction, but will include stops at WSU Tri Cities, the Yakima Learning Center, the Prosser Research and Extension Station and visits with a number of Extension programs in the district. This is the first of what we expect will be an annual opportunity to have the Provost visit with staff and faculty around the state.

NEW WSU ON-LINE PHOTO GALLERY
Recently WSU announced a new on line photo gallery, http://www.wsu.edu/photos-online/ that is available to be used by WSU faculty and staff for presentations, flyers, etc. For the protection of students, faculty, and staff, access to photographs on the Washington State University Photos-Online Web site is limited to WSU IP addresses only. This has created problems with this gallery being accessed by some Cooperative Extension employees who have ID's on county or other non-WSU networks.

We are aware of this problem and are working with the WSU webmaster to come up with a solution. We ask you to be patient while we work this out with them. But if you have an immediate need to access the gallery, please contact "photos@wsu.edu" provide your IP address and ask if your address can be added to those that are allowed access to the site.

FOCUS GROUP OPPORTUNITY FOR INPUT ON WSU INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Information technology has become an essential service to the WSU community. Mary Doyle, Interim Vice-President for Information Technology, has created 4 committees that will focus on developing a stragetic plan for information technology at WSU.

One of the committees will be studying information technology infrastructure. This committee views infrastructure as everything that supports the flow of information. This includes connectivity to the internet, data networks, servers, WHETS, WECN, satellite, telephone systems, and their associated cables and electronics.

Infrastructure is especially important to WSU sites at a distance, such as Newer Campus Locations, Learning Centers, Research and Extension Centers, and Extension offices. The chair of the committee, Tony Wright, College of Agriculture and Home Economics (CAHE) Information Department, encourages your participation.

The WSU Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure committee will have two sessions, WHETS and WECN, to obtain faculty, staff, and students views about WSU's future IT infrastructure. The first will be on the Pullman campus in FSHN T-101 and will be carried on the WECN system. It is on April 29 at 1:10pm until 2:30pm. Please contact Randy Cross (rcross@wsu.edu) if you wish to have your WECN system connected to the conference.

The second is on WHETS, Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from 2:10 pm until 3:40 pm. The WHETS locations are:
Pullman (Murrow 53),
WSU Spokane,
Spokane Nursing (214),
Tri-Cities (224W),
Vancouver (CL 117)
