EXTENSION
BULLETINS
So
much for the paperless society! Statistics from our Cooperative
Extension Bulletins office show that paper is still "alive
and well" in CE. In 2001 we printed 6,956,876 impressions and
processed over 700,000 pieces of mail. In addition, we shipped over
166,410 packages, processed 5355 publication orders within Washington
State and 2531 outside of Washington for a total of 8097 orders.
And by pouching individual mailings intended for county offices,
we waved roughly $20,000!
ONLINE
ARCHIVE FOR FRIDAY UPDATE
Ever
try to find something that you knew appeared in a previous edition
of Friday Update? You think it was a couple of weeks ago, but you
can't find the email for that week's edition. And then, when you
finally do, you discover that the item you were looking for wasn't
in that edition. Well, your days of random searching through you
email inbox are over. The Information Department has just put together
an on-line archive of "Friday Updates" starting with January
of this year. The issues are listed by date and a search engine
is also active so you can search for a particular word or phrase
instead of looking at each individual issue. You can find the archive
at: http://ext.wsu.edu/Update/
WREP
DISBANDED
The
Western Regional Extension Publications (WREP) consortium has been
officially disbanded by the Western Extension Director at their
recent meeting in Las Vegas. The Directors decided to not form a
group for continuation of this process and cooperating states will
discontinue assigning additional numbers for any Western Regional
publications and discontinue the regional publications process.
The Western Rural Development Center (WRDC) director also indicated
no support for the process. Discussion will ensue about how to handle
any WREP publications currently in progress.
NEXT
DIALOGUE WITH WSU PRESIDENT RAWLINS
President
Rawlins will hold his next Dialogue with faculty, staff and students
at noon on Thursday, March 7, at Room 119 in the new Center for
Undergraduate Education. After opening remarks on current University

be videostreamed for off-campus viewing. Watch "WSU Announcements"
for the location of the videostream. If you wish to submit a question
in advance, please send them to rawlins@wsu.edu. He will address
these questions during the Dialogue.
OFFICIAL
WSU CALENDAR
Since
the official online calendar for Pullman campus activities was launched
in December, more than 1,200 hits have been recorded in one month.
As more and more people rely on the calendar, its accuracy and completeness
become even more important. Please list your department and college
events as soon as the basic details are set. The web site is: wsucalendar.wsu.edu.
SCHEDULE
Next
week, February 18-22, Mike will be out Monday through Friday, attending
