Fun
Digital Photo Contest
The
contest has ended.
Thanks to all who participated!
The Information Department needs a wide range of digital images
for use in publications, reports, newsletters, bulletins, announcements,
news, flyers, and Web pages. To build an inventory of quality
images from across the state, we are announcing a monthly fun
photo contest beginning May 1 and ending February 28, 2005. To
help gather the images we need most, we will feature a different
theme each month. Names of monthly winners will be announced
in Extension Update. The winning image will be published each
month on the Extension Faculty and Staff Web site and each winner
will receive an Extension marketing prize. We will display a
collection of images at the All-Extension Conference in March
2005 and name a grand prize winner. Your images, whether they
win or not, will be retained in the department and may be published.
- The
contest is open only to paid employees and volunteers of
WSU Extension and
4-H youth. Employees of the CAHNRS Information Department are
not eligible.
- Entries must be color digital images no smaller
than 1600 by 1200 pixels (2 megapixels). Eligible photos
must have been
taken in Washington and be no more than one year old. High
quality scans of slides and prints are acceptable if they
meet minimum size criteria. Do not send slides
or prints. All entries
become the property of Washington State University for use
in educational and promotional materials.
- You must be the photographer and owner of the image. Images
must not be digitally altered (e.g., telephone lines removed).
- You
may enter up to three images by e-mail each month. They
must be submitted at the same time. Images
must be received
no later than the last day of the month to be considered
for judging that month. Your name and e-mail must accompany
your
entry. E-mail entries to Dennis Brown. In the
Subject Line, please type “Monthly Photo Contest,” and
the month of the contest you are entering, so your entry
won’t
be lost. Receipt will be acknowledged by e-mail.
- Please
include the following information with your e-mail:
- Your
name
- Your
connection with WSU Extension or 4-H
- Phone
number where we can reach you if necessary
- Title
or description of your image including when and where
it was taken. A signed release for all identifiable
individuals photographed is required. Fax a photo release form signed
by their parents. You
can download a photo
release form. Fax the
form to Dennis Brown at 509-335-2863. Forms must arrive
by the last day of the month for digital images
to qualify for that month's contest.
- If cruel or unethical practices are suspected,
the photo will be disqualified.
- Judges appointed by the Associate Dean of
Extension will choose the winners. Images will be judged
on originality, quality and appropriateness to the monthly
theme.
- If the quality of entries fall below required
standards, we reserve the right to not award prizes. Winners
will be announced in the next issue of Extension
Update. Only monthly winners will be eligible for a grand prize, which
will be awarded at the 2005 All-Extension Conference.
