Life Skills Evaluation System

SIX LIFE SKILLS
 have been selected to be measured through Life Skills, Junior.:

Decision Making - Choosing among several alternatives.
  1. I think about my choices before making a decision.
  2. I think about what might happen because of my choice.
  3. I am happy with the choices that I make.
  4. When I need to, I ask an adult for help in making a decision.

Wise Use of Resources - Using sound judgment; not being wasteful; being responsible; setting priorities.
  1. I recycle at home or at school.
  2. When I get money, I save some of it.
  3. I make time for doing my homework.
  4. I clean my room without my parents reminding me.
  5. I pick up litter when I see it lying around.
  6. When making a project I only take the things I need.

Communication - The exchange of thoughts, information, or messages between individuals using speech, writing, gestures, and artistic expression.
  1. I listen when someone is talking to me.
  2. I tell people how I feel when they hurt my feelings.
  3. I apologize when I am wrong.
  4. I get along with people.
  5. I ask for help if I do not understand something.

Accepting Differences - To recognize and welcome factors that separate or distinguish one person from another.
  1. I would play with kids who are different than me.
  2. I would have friends who are different than me.
  3. I would invite a kid over to my house to play who is different than me.
  4. I let others play with me even if they are not very good at the game.

Healthy Lifestyle Choices - Selecting a way of living that is in accord with sound condition of body and mind, prevention of disease and injury.
  1. I choose healthy snacks like vegetables and fruits, cheese or peanut butter.
  2. I wear a safety helmet when riding a bike, skateboarding or rollerblading.
  3. I talk to someone when I am upset or scared.
  4. I like to play outside everyday.

Self-responsibility - Taking care of oneself; being accountable for one's behavior and obligations; choosing for oneself between right and wrong.
  1. I follow a schedule for doing homework.
  2. I do what I say I am going to do.
  3. I go to an adult and ask for help solving a problem.
  4. I take care of my things.
  5. I ask for permission before I use other people's things.
  6. I wait for my turn when doing an activity.
